Johnette Lynn Cooper Smith was the youngest of seven children born on August 12, 1977. Johnette was a graduate of Carroll High School in Monroe, Louisiana and worked as a CNA for a short period during her lifetime. While Johnette was ill for many years her faith never waivered up until the day that God called her home on November 19, 2020.
Johnette accepted Christ as her personal savior at a young age and her spiritual roots were planted amidst the Saints of Bethel Baptist Church where she was under the leadership of Pastor Charles Thomas and later was also under the leadership of Pastor Ruben Oliver.
Johnette was preceded in death by her Mother, Thelma R. Smith, her father, Johnny Cooper, and one brother, Jimmy Lee Smith Jr.
Johnette leaves to cherish her memories: two children, Damon (Rachel) Smith of Biloxi, MS and Nekiah Smith of Birmingham, AL. She leaves 4 sisters and one brother, June (Charles) Jackson of Gulfport, MS, Julia Smith and Joyce Smith (Spikes) both of Monroe, LA, Jason Smith of Jackson, LA and Juanita (Frank) Ellis of Gulfport, MS. Johnette also leaves behind her only grandchild, Cloe Smith who was her sunshine on a cloudy day and leaves to mourn a very dear companion, Barry McFarland who was with her throughout most of her illness, taking care of her every need and remained at her bedside up until the very day when God called her home. Johnette will be missed by her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
