The days and nights had been long and the burden I had borne seemed heavier than I could bear; and then it lifted. But someone took it to God in prayer and asked for the easing of the load, and God in his infinite wisdom and compassion stepped down and removed it from me.
On Palm Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Stoney Brook Memory Care Home, the death angel came and bore the spirit of Brother John Edward Harrell away to glory land where he is free from sickness, sorrow, pain, and death.
At an early age, Brother Harrell united with the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where he remained a loyal member to his death. While living in Milwaukee, he joined the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, where he was an active member.
He graduated from Union Central High School in 1965. He moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and obtained his Associate degree in Electronics from M.A.T.C. Later, he obtained his real estate broker license; but primarily, his career consisted of working as an assistant manager for Kohl’s Food Stores.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Leneva Harrell; and one sister, Linda Harrell, and one brother, Michael Harrell.
His loving memories will be cherished by his two children from a previous marriage, Jonathan and Jennifer Harrell, both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two brothers, James Harrell of Grayson, Louisiana; and Herman Harrell of Franklin, Wisconsin; two sisters, Dianne Bennett of Monroe, Louisiana; and Theresa (Ralph) Engl of Grayson, Louisiana; one aunt, Viola Riser Hawkins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one uncle, Andy Riser of Grayson, Louisiana; two special aunts, Willie Bea Riser and Alice Riser; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
