Joan Kelly Obituary

Sister Joan Kelly was born Joan Johnson to parents Juanita Johnson and Martin Johnson, Sr. on June 30, 1941. Joan departed this life on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana with her daughter, Iresia just a phone call away.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Triumph Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Eddie Nash. She later joined the Greater Flowery Mount Baptist Church. There, she remained until her death.

Her current resident at the Saint Joseph Assisted Living had become a safe and enjoyable life for her. She became the poster resident for the home. She made commercials demonstrating how enjoyable life was at Saint Joseph. Ms. Kelly never met a stranger.

She is proceeded in death by her mother, Juanita in 1978 and her son, Alfred Carter on May 16, 2019.

She leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Robert Johnson (Patricia) of Monroe, Louisiana; and Dennis Johnson of Monroe, Louisiana; daughters, Deborah Carter (Clarence) of Los Angeles, California; and Iresia Higgins (Vernon) of Monroe, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
