JoAnn “Tosie” Washington

January 24, 1965 ~ June 30, 2021 (age 56)

Our beloved sister, JoAnn “Tosie” Washington was born to the late Kenny Eggins and Henrietta Washington, on January 24, 1965 in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana. JoAnn was a graduate of Caldwell Parish High School. Upon graduating she made the decision to move north and make Illinois her home. She loved Law and Order and obtained a position as a Paralegal working with numerous Law Firms throughout Illinois. Sister JoAnn was united at an early age, with Saint Peters Baptist Church of Columbia, Louisiana under the leadership of Reverend J. B. Brown. After moving to Illinois, she was an active member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ray Charles Bonney. JoAnn was an awesome housekeeper, who enjoyed planting flowers and loved anything to do with gardening. She would not allow anyone to work in her yard except her dear neighbor Mr. Dave. JoAnn loved football and was a ‘Die Hard’ Green Bay Packers fan. She stood ready to challenge any negative comments about her beloved Green Bay Packers. JoAnn’s passion did not stop there. She also had a passion for children. Even though she did not have any children of her own, she and Adrain expressed their love and passion for children by rearing their nieces, Kamorie and Jaliyah and nephew, Jamille as their own. The love she had for them was unconditional. She will forever have a place in their hearts and she will be greatly missed. JoAnn was preceded in death by Adrain Holden (a special friend), her youngest brother, Jerry ‘Larry’ Washington and Charles Washington. Four bonus siblings: Sing Earline Wade, Rose Mae Eggins-Turner, Alex and James Eggins. Two close friends, Mickey McDonald and Kenneth Golliday. JoAnn leaves to cherish her memory; her one and only sister, whom she loved dearly, Linda Faye Washington (Monroe, Louisiana); her oldest brother Melvin Washington (Carole) Las Vegas, Nevada; Freddie Washington (Linda) Arlington, Texas and Donald Washington of Canoga Park, California. One bonus sister; Willie Lee Eggins of Columbia, Louisiana. A host of nieces, nephews and her church family and her extended friends family of Ingleside, Illinois.
