Jimmy Lewis McMillian, Jr. Obituary

Mr. Jimmy Lewis McMillian, Jr. was born September 23, 1983 to Ms. Mary Ann Robinson and Jimmy Lewis McMillan, Sr. of Monroe, Louisiana.

Jimmy attended Martin Luther King Elementary, Carroll Jr. High School, and Carroll High School.  He later matriculated to The Christa McAuliffe Center, an Adult Education school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he attended GED courses.  Jimmy furthered his education at a VoTech school for The Cullinary Arts.  He was an excellent cook. Jimmy was a huge football fan and student of The Word.

J.R. was a member of the Greater Free Gift Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a junior deacon for a short time before relocating.

Jimmy's career also included carpentry and cooking at fast food restaurants like Jason's Deli. Recently, Jimmy was employed at Hi Nabor, where he served in the Deli Department. He was diligent, tender-hearted, and a big helper to Rev. Mary Cook and Min. Shaun Robinson. He believed in serving God, family, and others (neighbors/coworkers/church members).  With Jimmy, everyone was important.  He fondly remembered everyone's birthday, anniversary, etc. "Jay" (affectionally called) was quite the praise and worshipper and encouraged others along this Christian Journey and in life.  Jay also loved to see me educating and equipping kids and teens toward a better life.

He is preceeded in death by his father, Jimmy McMillian, Sr.; his grandmother, Manora McMillian; and his brother,  Michael Wayne Robinson (Big Mike).

Surviving members are his mother, Rev. Mary Robinson-Cook; his close sister, Min. Shaun Robinson, brothers, John Robinson, Phillip  Robinson (wife, Shineen), and Marcus Lee Robinson; his sister, Tameka Robinson and her husband, his brother, Jacoby. He also leaves a close aunt, Mary Turner; his cousins, Antwan and Estella McMillan and their children, Nehemiah, Zachariah McMillian, Antwanisha Davis, and Zykia Allen; Tedric & Shantella and their children,  Te’breyia Starks, Chasity Starks, Taeylor McMillian; Travis and his children, Tra’Vionna & Travis Jr. McMillian; Kenyatta and her children, Kendrick, Kenderic, Kenique McMillian; Erical and son, Jerric Foster, and many McMillian relatives from Tulsa, OK; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; and Monroe, LA.
