Jesse Lee Jefferson was born June 26, 1942 to the late Bobbie Jefferson and Sarah Johnson-Jefferson.
Jesse confessed and accepted Christ and was baptized by Reverend J.H. Housely of Saint Joe Baptist Church at an early age. He was a lifelong member and recognized by the Louisiana State Convention as being a "Fifty Year or More" member of one church.
Jesse graduated from Richwood High School in Monroe.
He had a passion for the furniture business. Jesse worked for Dixie Bedding Furniture and Smith Furniture Company for a number of years. It was great customer service and an expertise in furniture sales that led him to becoming an entrepreneur and opening his own furniture company, Jefferson's Furniture. For 20 plus years, he was the owner and CEO of Jefferson's Furniture in Monroe, Louisiana.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents, Bobbie and Sarah Jefferson; a son, Jerry Robinson; siblings, Robert "Jeff" Jefferson, Billy Jefferson, Wayman Jefferson, Leo Jefferson, and Marie Jefferson-Smith.
His memories will be cherished by: his wife, Gloria Davis-Jefferson; children, Cynthia Jefferson and Karen Jefferson, both of Houston, Texas; Thomas Jefferson and Jesse Jefferson, Jr. (Tamara), both of Monroe, Louisiana; his children born to his first wife, the late Mary Hughes Jefferson; siblings, James Jefferson (Louvenia), Clarence Jefferson, Joe Jefferson (Alberta), and Sara L. Jefferson, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; Lennon Jefferson (Dianne) of Houston, Texas; Cleo Jefferson, Charles Jefferson, Johnnie L. Butler, and Minister Yvonne Jefferson of Monroe, Louisiana; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one aunt, Ceola Jefferson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
