Welcome to the memorial page for

James "Dick" Edward Fairley, Sr.

July 25, 1940 ~ April 15, 2020 (age 79)

James Edward Fairley, Sr. was born on July 25, 1940 to the late Mr. AC Fairley and Millie Eaton-Fairley in Crowville, Louisiana. He was reared by his step-father, J.D. Mitchell, who also proceeded him in death. He was the second born of eleven children. He accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Mathis. He later moved to Ruston, Louisiana, where he joined Love Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend David Lee Slack, Jr. He remained there under the leadership of Reverend Elliot Abney until his passing.

Our dad (James) was a caring and compassionate spirit that led him to care for many of his loved ones and numerous others that needed him. His home was always opened to those who needed a place to sleep, food to eat, a caring word, or just a hug.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of fifty-seven years, Linda Puckett-Fairley “Linnie,” two daughters, Karen Veronica Fairley of Simsboro and Niketra Sheree Fairley-Jones (Mike) of Texas; three sons, James Edward Fairley, Jr. (Lisa) of Jonesboro, Michael Ray Fairley of Monroe, and LaTorrance Terrell Fairley (Kecia) of Simsboro; two sisters, Teckley Collins and Annie Bishop (John) of Oakland, California; four brothers, Eddie Fairley (Gurlie) of Monroe, Woodrow Fairley of Rayville, AC Fairley, Jr. (Emma) of Oakland, California; and Dennis Mitchell (Julia) of Hayward, California; nineteen grandchildren, Brandon Fairley, Silynda Coleman, Shandrecka Fairley, Jeremy Fairley, Jayland Fairley, LaTerrica Smith (Antoine), JaKelia Jones, DaKendric Jones, Jamesha Fairley, Aleczandria Fairley, JaMyia Fairley, Leila Fairley, Iyona Fairley, Mariah Fairley, MaKayla Fairley, Peyton Fairley, LaTorrance Terrell Fairley, Jr., Ashton Rhodes, and Leighton Fairley; three adopted grandchild, Lanosius Williams, O'Derrick Allen, and Terry Allen; ten great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Those that loved our him as their own father are too numerous to list because he cared for so many.

~~~~~
We would like to thank our many friends and family for all the love you’ve shown during the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, James E. Fairley, Sr. Your prayers have sustained us as we have begun the process of trying to navigate this life without him. We are humbled by your many acts of kindness shown on our behalf and we offer prayers of gratitude for the thoughtfulness shown on our behalf. Although our hearts are broken, we find consolation in knowing we will see our loved one again on the other side. We pray God grants His richest blessing upon you and your families.
