Gloria Blondell (Taylor) Spivey was born February 20, 1957 in Monroe, Louisiana to Alonzo and Mattie Taylor Sr. She was raised in Mer Rouge (Bonne Idee) being the youngest of eight children.
Gloria graduated from Delta High School in 1975 and went on to marry her husband, John W. Spivey, who proceeded her in death in 1994. Through this union, they raised six children together. She started an extensive work career in 1980 as a domestic housekeeper to Riley and Hortense Williams as well as their daughter Sue Williams for forty years. She truly enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending quality time with her family.
She was preceded in death by mother and father, Alonzo and Mattie Taylor, Sr; a granddaughter, J’maia Spivey; three brothers, Alonzo, Jr. (Buddy), James (Bubba) & Donald (Don); three sisters, Martha, Augustine (Teen), & Verdie Mae (Bay).
She leaves to cherish: her life partner of 28 years, Frankie Troy Smith; four daughters, Latecia Taylor, Porsche Spivey (Wayne), Nedrea Spivey (Doug), and Kimberly Spivey; two nieces, Laquasha Whitlock and Quoshandra Whitlock; eight grandchildren, D’Tyvion, Alicha (Brandon), D’kira (Teddrick), L’Davion, La’Kendria, Shannon II, Johntavious, and Kylee; eight great grandchildren, Brooklynn, Brandon Jr., Major, Legend, Jamia, Londyn, Kailux, and ZyLyn, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
