George Wade, Sr., was born June 5, 1953, in Rayville, Louisiana, to the late Eddie Richardson and Mary Calloway Wade. He accepted Christ at the age of seventy-one, where he was united with the Greater Free Gift Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Rodney McFarland, Sr. He was baptized on June 1, 2025, and was a faithful member until his health declined.
George started his education at Eula D. Britton and transferred to Lincoln Elementary School. When he was 15 years old, he decided to pick up a trade as a plumber which he worked at for 47 years until the age of sixty-two. He continued to do odd jobs around the neighborhood until his health began to fail. He was a member of the community organization called the “Godfathers” until they disbanded. He loved to cook and spend time with family, and as his niece Gail would say, “He can cook better than a woman.”
His most incredible pride was becoming a father and a grandfather. He was a quiet man, but he did not mind giving his opinion. On September 7, 2025, George heard God say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” He closed his eyes and stepped into eternity.
Those who preceded him in death were his wife, Patricia Wade; parents, Mary C. Wade and Eddie Richardson; six brothers, Joseph Wade, Archie Wade, Lem Wade, Thomas Wade, Larry Wade, and Carl Calloway, Sr.; three sisters, Hattie Brown, Rosie Wheeler, and Caroline Wade; one bonus daughter, Cassandra Randle; and one grandson, Derric Jones, Jr.
He leaves to mourn: his four children, Derrish Scurfield (Norman), Derric Jones (Jacklyn), George Wade, Jr. (DeSheika), all of Monroe, LA, and Collins Alonzo Wade (Paula) of West Monroe, LA; two bonus sons, Demeatress Randle (Christina) and Larry Wade; three sisters, Clemmie Wheeler of Rayville, LA, Dorothy Johnson and Anna Mazant (Paul) of Monroe, LA; two aunts, Vallena Winston (Elonzo) of Renton, WA, and Tobitha Calloway of Seattle, WA; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Wade of Monroe, LA, and Patricia Carter of West Monroe, LA; special cousins, Alma Marie Dale, Doritha Dale, and Judge Anita Crawford Willis; nineteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
