George Jacobs, III

Obituary

George Jacobs III was born to George Jacobs II and Catherine Jacobs on October 11, 1954, in Shreveport, LA. He departed life on Monday, June 15, 2026. He was baptized at an early age. Later in life, he became a Mason. He was a member of Faith Harvest Church under Reverend James Earl Jackson at the time of his death.

He attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School until it closed in the late 60s. He attended Carroll Jr. High and High School where he excelled on the basketball and football teams. After high school, he served in the US Navy where he received medical discharge. He later qualified for the US Army and served in Germany until he retired. He was loved by anyone he met. He was affectionately called “Snake” by the neighborhood while others knew him as “BayBro.”

He leaves to cherish his memories: his three sisters, Marquilla Nelson (Mike), Carlor Foster (Billy), and Yolonda Grimes (Milton); one son, Chief Terrance Taylor of Monroe, LA; two daughters, Miriam Schilder of Augsburg, Germany, and Kaleshia “Miss Pooh” Minnifield; one special friend, Hannie Lori Schilder of Augsburg, Germany; close childhood friend, Curtis “Sleepy” Stewart; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and one special uncle (Ralph Holley).

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mrs. Carrie “Ma Dear” Smith; parents, George II and Catherine Jacobs; one sister, Mary “Papoose” Loyd; two brothers, Johnny Marcus Smith and Jerome Jacobs (Martha Ann); one nephew, Shenderrick Jacobs; and one great-nephew, Shenderick Wilson.
