Deacon Freddie Lee Hilliard was born on November 26, 1948, in Monroe, Louisiana, to the late Fannie and L.C. Hilliard. He was a dedicated worker, giving over 40 years of faithful service to Buffington Lumber Company. More than his work, Freddie was known for his deep love for the outdoors—especially hunting—and his unwavering devotion to family, friends, and his beloved church community.
Freddie found joy and purpose in worship, and he was a proud and faithful member of New Galilee Baptist Church, where his presence will be deeply missed. He was educated in the Monroe City School System and lived a life grounded in faith, humility, and service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Viola and Hosea Hilliard; sister, Dorothy Hilliard; brother, Allen Freeman; and his wife, Katie Hilliard.
Freddie leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith. He is survived by one daughter, Rachel Henderson; three sons, Freddie Lee Baker, Eddie Hilliard, and Frederick McMillian (affectionately known as Fabo); one sister, Bobbie Jean Hilliard of California; and one brother, Jimmie Lee Hilliard of Monroe.
He also leaves behind special cousins who were more like siblings: Patricia Hilliard-Simmons, Betty Hilliard, and Tommy Hilliard—all of Monroe.
His cherished grandchildren include:
Brittany Williams, Fredkeia Jones, Fredricka Mitchell, Jeremiah Baker, Donterrio Anderson, Ed’Drecia Hilliard, Eddie Landers, and Ed’Kerria Lewis.
A very special niece, Lois Hilliard, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren also survive him.
