For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Saint John 3:16 King James Version
Floyd Owens, Jr. was born February 9, 1919 to the union of the late Lillie Mae and Floyd Owens, Sr.
He was baptized at an early age in Sicily Island, Louisiana. The family moved to Monroe and united with the New Saint John Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member until his death.
He enlisted in the United States Army in 1941. Floyd was a caring and loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend. His favorite words were “I believe,” and “The Lord is Good.” That is the reason for his longevity because he believed and loved God. What a testament of faith!
He departed this life on February 14, 2021 at Ochsner LSU Health in Monroe, Louisiana.
Floyd was the last sibling of 15 children. He has 16 children, and six preceded him in death: Sue Glover, Jean Williams, Floyd Owens, III; Frank (Marilyn) Owens, Lynn (Castella) Owens, and Yevorn Owens.
He leaves to cherish his memories: nine sons, Charles (Marilyn) Owens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Shyni (Angelina) Owens of Homer, Louisiana; Albert Owens of Oakland, California; Kent (Clarise) Owens of Oakland, California; Joseph (Jackie) Stevenson of Monroe, Louisiana; Jerome Stevenson of Monroe, Louisiana; Tyrone Stevenson of Monroe, Louisiana; Troy Powell of Chicago, Illinois; and Jonathan Jackson of Monroe, Louisiana; one daughter, Elizabeth Owen of Atlanta, Georgia; 29 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, a special sister-in-law, Eula Owens, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
