Brother Eugene L. Hester Jr., was born July 17, 1947, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Naomi Clark Hester and Eugene L. Hester Sr. On Sunday, May 24, 2020, he entered eternal rest at his home in Monroe, Louisiana.
He accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, then became a member at The Greater Free Gift Missionary Baptist Church.
Brother Eugene Hester attended Carroll High School in Monroe, LA, where he graduated in “The Mighty Bulldog Class of 1965.” He then went on to attend the Grambling State University for 2 years, then drafted into the United States Army where he served our country and fought in the Vietnam War. He was awarded a Purple Heart in honor of his service.
Brother Eugene Hester began working at Olin Craft (Georgia Pacific) when he returned from the war, then began working for the United State Postal Service in which, he later retired from with over 30 years of service. He was well known in the Monroe community and was a member of the Southside Men’s Club.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved wife, Ida Hester (Hudson) Monroe, LA; Two sons, Carlos L. Ross (Seattle, WA), and Eugene L. Hester III of Monroe, LA and One daughter, BeNedra Hester- Cleveland (James) of (Atlanta, GA.) Step Children: Ivory Hudson, Steve Hudson (Shante), Lonnie Hudson, Shirley Hudson, Channella Hudson all of Monroe, LA and Xavier Hudson (Tennessee),. Grandchildren: Brianna Marbles (Seattle, WA), Ja’Carlos Cleveland (Monroe, LA), Carr’ianna Ross (Seattle, WA), Shameka S. Kelly, Shanika L. Kelly, Derrick D. Kelly, Chason N Williams. Step Grandchildren: Khloe Hudson, McKenzie Hudson, Tremaine Hudson Jr., Isaiah Green, Jouri Williams, Amanda Williams, LaCurtis Dunn, CurTerrius Dunn, DMarion Prices, Markagus Hudson, Youri Hudson, Joshua Hudson, Xavier Hudson Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
