Estella McDowell was born on October 11, 1933, to the late John Hall and Mary Liza Walter Hall. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Anthony L. Guice.
She was united in holy matrimony to Elza McDowell on February 2, 1952. Together, they reared ten children.
Estella was loved by many. She was a pillar in the community and was a mother figure and friend. Her overall joy in life came with being with her children and grandchildren. She loved her family.
She instilled in her children the importance of loving and taking care of each other.
Estella departed this life on Sunday, May 4, 2025. She was the last of ten siblings to gain her wings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elza McDowell; parents, John and Mary Liza; three sisters, Beaulah, Katle, and Rosie Mae; six brothers, Charlle, John, Leon, Arless, Booker T., and L J.
She leaves to cherish her memories: four daughters, Glinda Robinson, Marcella Smith, Vivian Beals (Mychal), and Malvina Williams (Lonzo); six sons, Elton McDowell, Dalton McDowell
(Ana), Carl McDowell (Vernesta), Victor McDowell, Anthony McDowell (LaRhonda), and Melvin McDowell (Betty); 31 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends.
