Sister Emma L. Reed was born on September 27, 1946, the sixth child of nine children, to the union of Mr. John Skipper Cameron and Mrs. Annie Gix Cameron. She departed this life on February 25, 2025, at the St. Francis Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.
Sister Emma attended school in Franklin Parish and graduated from Richwood High School in Monroe, Louisiana. She was united in marriage with Herbert L. Reed, Sr., on October 5, 1968. Sister Emma was baptized into Christ at the Parkview Drive Church of Christ in Monroe, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by both parents, John and Annie Cameron; in-laws, Willie and Oddie Reed; a son, Herbert Reed, Jr.; and a great- grandson, Jace Hollins; brothers, John (JC) Cameron and Charles (CW) Cameron; one sister, Pearlie Drumgole; brothers-in-law, Elisha Drumgole, Sr., George Berry, Willie Henderson, Dennis Reed, Willie Reed, Jr. Robert Reed. Lawyer Reed, Johnny Reed, Jerry Reed; and a sisters-in-law: Beverly Mariland and Nell Cameron.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Reed, Sr.; three daughters, Sister Oddie Cameron, Anessia Reed, and Sister Sheronda Reed all of Monroe, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Cameron of Jacksonville, Florida, Jurnie Cameron, Brother Jaylen Monk, Jo’Darris Collins, all of Monroe, Louisiana, and Joseph Collins, Jr., of Addison, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Halaina Cameron, Jhasen Richard, Jhamiya Cameron, Amaya Moore, King Cameron, Malaiya Cameron, and Kian Cameron; four sisters, Beverly Henderson and Ruby Armstrong of Monroe, Louisiana, Ann Paul of Houston, Texas, and Iva Berry of Shreveport, Louisiana; one brother, David (Joyce) Gix of Monroe, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Eudora Bell Cameron of Houston, Texas, Patricia “Ann” Reed, Deborah Reed, Sabrina Reed, Ola Reed, four brothers-in-law: Leon (Patricia) Reed, Herman (Linda) Reed, Charles (YuShelia) Reed all of Monroe, Louisiana and Darnell (Lela) Reed of Rex, Georgia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
