Elmore was born to the late Leolder McDowell and Rufus “Cat” Turner on December 28, 1945, in Franklin Parish. They preceded him in death. He was raised by grandparents, Alma and George Berry, who also preceded him in death. Elmore had one sister to precede him in death, Norma Brown.
Elmore worked for Union Pacific Railroad, until he retired due to his failing health.
A special thanks goes out to Ridgecrest Nursing Home, Shonica Jones, and Jailynne McDowell.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Annie Kelly Berry; two girls he raised from the beginning, Adrienne Hedgeman (John) and Latricia Gail Williams (Barry); three sons, Avery Love (Shirley), Marcus Berry, and Marion Berry (Porche); five stepchildren, Nicole, Bobby Lynn, Angela (Nay), Rick, and Wayne; sisters, Erma Monroe (Nathan), Roseanor McDowell, Marzetta Johnson, Christine Rancher, Veronica McDowell, and Etta Boston (Sam); two godsons, Anthony McCann (Odessa) and Freddie Blanson; a faithful cousin, Lenora Gray (Jackie); and a host of grandchildren, great-grands, nieces, nephews, and friends.
