Ellis Johnson was born October 10, 1933 in Delhi, Louisiana, to parents Jack Johnson and Carrie Ross Johnson.
Ellis was the second oldest of ten children.
He was given the nickname "Doc" affectionately by one of his cousins and well known by his family.
Soon after finishing school he relocated to Chicago where he worked as a forklift driver for McCormick Seasoning and retire after 32 years of services.
Ellis met Sam Earl O’Daniels, and soon thereafter their daughter, Carolyn arrived. Ellis was a devoted father to his daughter who he help raised with his endless love, sacrifice, and dedication. He loved to buy her a new bicycle every year for her birthday. When Carolyn’s son, Joshua was born, Ellis became the greatest granddad a kid could have wanted. Ellis loved to pick up his grandson Joshua from school and the would watch the news together. He loved to read books to little Joshua and give him after school snacks.
Ellis was fond of tinkering around his home and working on his car. To get exercise, he’d take daily walks to the post office to pick up his mail. Ellis would also visit family members in Delhi. He was an awesome father and a fantastic grandfather. He loved his daughter and grandson.
On the morning of Thursday, October 24,2019, just as the sun began to rise and earth, moon and sun aligned, Ellis received his Heavenly Rest. Ellis is preceded in death by his parents Carrie and Jack Johnson.
He is survived by his daughter Carolyn Rochell O’Daniels, grandson Joshua Gordon O’Daniels, and step-children; including brothers, sisters, and a host of nieces and nephews.
