Elbert "June Bug" Edwards, Sr.

Elbert Edwards, Sr., affectionately known as “June Bug”, transitioned on December 5, 2023.

Elbert was born on July 1, 1941, to Evelyn Edwards. Elbert was raised committed to the Catholic Faith. He attended Little Flower Academy in Monroe, Louisiana 71202. He graduated in 1959. He married Fannie Dell Bishop in November of 1961.

Elbert always had a fondness for westerns, drinking coffee, listening to Janice Joplin, and dancing to the latest tunes.

He is survived by: children, Carrie Newman, Monroe, Sheila Edwards, Monroe, Shara Davis (Carl), TX, Diana Lewis (Rovance), Slidell, LA, Elbert Edwards, Jr. (Lashonda), TX, Paula (George) Egill, TX; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Dell Edwards; mother, Evelyn Edwards; and his great-grandmother, Mattie “Ms. Sweet” Churchill.
