Mr. Doyal McDade was born on November 20, 1927, in Delhi, LA. He was the third of five children born to Floyd McDade, Sr. and Seana Morris McDade. Prior to her marriage to Floyd McDade, Sr., she had two other children by her first husband.
Education was always a priority for Doyal. Considering the generation he lived in, he thought this to be the best avenue for him and his family to succeed. After he graduated from Richland Parish Training School, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Southern University and A&M College in 1951 and his Master’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1958, plus 30 graduate hours from Northeast Louisiana University (now University of Louisiana Monroe).
On July 27, 1952, Doyal married Embra Dee Crandell – a loving union that lasted almost 72 years. To this marriage was born their only child, the late Doyal Andre McDade.
Ever the lifelong learner, his entire career was devoted to sharing his knowledge - educating generations of young people in Louisiana as a Social Studies and Mathematics teacher, school principal at Combs-McIntyre and Title I supervisor both in West Carroll Parish. He also served on the Richland Parish School Board as a member for 17 years, advocating for the youth in his community.
Later in his life, Doyal was a member of True Vine Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Leotis Drungo, Sr., where he also served as a Sunday School teacher.
Doyal was a valued and cherished member of his community. People were impressed by his head for numbers and sought his expertise in mathematics and taxes. He spent countless hours providing guidance and advice to those who sought it. Always direct and to the point, he never hesitated to share what he thought was the right and fair thing to do.
Those that knew him well knew the things that brought him the most enjoyment were his cigars, his cows and making people laugh. His sense of humor and storytelling skills never failed to bring joy to others.
His ability to recall the most minute details about people, things and past events painted an amazing picture for the audience that gave true insight into a given moment in time.
After a long and productive life, Doyal answered God’s call to eternal rest on Thursday evening, May 9, 2024. His parents, five of his siblings and son preceded him in death.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his caring and dedicated wife Embra Crandell McDade; four grandchildren Andrea McDade, Dameian McDade, Andrica McDade and Andrańe McDade; 4 great-grandchildren Jordan McDade, Jayden McDade, Kennedy McDade and Mariah McDade; 1 great-great-grandchild, Skai McDade; one sister Dorothy Deloris Carter and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, mentees and colleagues.
