Donald Clifton Jenkins, Sr., was born on December 20, 1936, to Richard Jenkins and Jettie Mae Jenkins in Bonita, LA.
He transitioned this life on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 8:00 PM at St. Francis Specialty Hospital in Monroe, LA.
He attended Elementary School at Lawson Chapel in Bonita, LA, and he attended Union High School in Mer Rouge, LA.
He accepted Christ at an early age at Lawson Chapel AME in Bonita, LA. Later in life, he joined Seigle MBC where he served for 40 years. After his health began to fail, he moved his membership to Mt. Zion closer to his residence where he remained until his transition. He worked in construction for a while. Later he purchased his own semi-truck and started driving across the country. His favorite pastime was fishing with his longtime friend, Lawrence Flintroy.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jerry Jenkins, and one grandson, Chance Grundy.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his two brothers, Charles King (Lois) of Bastrop, LA, and Sham King (Callean) of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Josephine Johnson (Condy) and Jo-Ann Jones (Larry), both from Las Vegas, NV; one daughter, Shelia Jackson of Emeryville, CA; two sons, Donald C. Jenkins, Jr., of Minnesota and Kamar Wright of Chicago, IL; twelve great-grandchildren, nine great-grands, and one great-great-grand; daughter-in-law, Denise Jenkins; special niece, Deborah Shaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
