Mrs. Dollie Jackson Davis was born on May 23, 1943, in Oak Ridge, Louisiana, to the late Frank and Precious (Dollie) Jones. She departed this earthly life on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Dollie received Christ at an early age under the leadership of her father, Reverend Frank Jones. Later, she moved her membership to Friendship Baptist Church under Reverend Walter Watson and continued faithfully under the leadership of Reverend Jesse McCoy following Reverend Watson’s passing.
She was united in marriage to the late Roosevelt Jackson, and to this union two children were born: Renell Jackson and Tavia Perry. Later in life, she married Ruben Davis, who became a devoted husband and a cherished father, grandfather, and friend to her family.
Dollie was well known throughout the community for her beautiful singing voice. She was an active member of the Friendship Baptist Church Choir, “The Voices of Hope” singing group, and the Togetherness Choir. She was often called upon to sing at church events and community programs.
Dollie was known far and wide for her excellent cooking skills. Professionally, she worked as the head cook at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University). After leaving ULM, she worked with her longtime employer and friend, Bonnie Woods.
Dollie was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Cleo Banks, Mildred Jones, and Bertha Jones; three brothers, Lannie, Frank, and Ezekiel Jones; her first husband, Roosevelt Jackson; and one son, Renell Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Ruben Davis; daughter, Tavia Perry; one sister, Margret Powell; five grandchildren: Charnell (Dawn) Dumas, Charlesia Smith-Jackson, Krisha James, Tia Perry, and Aaron Perry; two great-grandchildren, Addilyn Creel and Jaxson Dumas; daughter-in-love, Mary Jo Badger; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
