Destiny Grace Johnson, “Gracie”, was born on February 5, 2001 to Melvin and Hope Johnson. She was the fourth child of five.
Gracie attended Morehouse Parish school district before her health declined. She accepted Christ early in her life under the leadership of Reverend L.E. Armstrong Sr. of the St. Matthews #1 Missionary Baptist Church where Pastor Cedric Winston now presides.
Gracie enjoyed singing, styling her hair, doing her makeup, photographing, watching movies, social media, and spending quality time with her family. She encouraged the family to “trust God” no matter what. With her vibrant personality and loving spirit, Destiny desired to become a psychiatrist, focusing on mental health.
Our sweet precious Gracie departed this world on July 6, 2024 at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Velma Dickerson, maternal grandfather, Jeff Addie, great-grandmother, Queenie B. Dickerson, uncle, William D. Dickerson, aunt, Ramona Johnson, and sister, Shanterria Miller.
Destiny leaves to cherish her memory: her father, Melvin Johnson; mother, Hope Dickerson Johnson; brother, D’Wailen Dickerson (Chari) of Houston, TX; sisters, Daquisha Miller of St. Louis, MO, Delbenie Joi Dickerson, Dezarae Johnson, and Daisha Johnson all of Bastrop, LA. She also leaves to cherish her memory: her paternal grandmother, Mary D. Collins (Gardy) of New Orleans, LA; uncles, Roderick Dickerson of Baton Rouge, LA and Cedric Dickerson (Nikki) of Richmond, TX; aunt, Connie Miller of Dallas, TX, and a host of special nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to her awesome caretaker, Charlotte, Good Shepherd Personal Care LLC., and Jamie and Tracey of Pafford Ambulance in Bastrop, LA.
