Derrick DeMon Puckett was born June 22, 1985, to Melissa Puckett and Dwight Brown at EA Conway Memorial Hospital, Monroe, Louisiana. He departed this earthly life on January 20, 2023, at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Derrick was a people person. Everywhere he went he made a difference in someone’s life, especially with his laughter. He always liked to have cookouts. His main hobby was fishing, sometimes it even landed him in a little trouble for being at the wrong fishing spot.
He was preceded in death by: his grandmother, Ruthie M. Brown; stepdad, Larry Johnson; and godparents, Bobby and Lavern Richards.
Derrick was baptized in 2018 and he attended Praise Temple Church of God in Christ, until he relocated to Duluth, Georgia, in 2019.
He was survived by: wife, Calondra Puckett; children, Anthony Burks, of Ruston, LA, Raven Burks, and Christian Burks, all of Duluth, GA; mother, Melissa Puckett of Monroe, LA; father, Dwight (Julia) Brown; sisters, Karesha Puckett, of El Dorado, AR, and Natalie (Deon) Alexander, of Grambling, LA; brothers, Kelvin Puckett, Tamarcus Puckett, Michael Puckett, and Mack Mckinnley Puckett, all of Monroe, LA; brotherly love, Quinterrious Puckett of Fort Worth, TX; aunts, Mary (Greg) of Delhi, LA, and Autria (Cleveland) Burton and Loretta (Sam) Burton, both of Monroe, LA; uncles, Bennie (Quanita) Brown of Delhi, LA, Willie (Eddie Mae) Kelly, of Delhi, LA, and Vinson (Kim) Brown of Crowville, LA; father-in-law, Donald Myles of Monroe, LA; brother-in-law, Moses Thomas of Duluth, GA; God-sister, Regina (Brandon) Hamburg and godbrothers, Borris (Angela) Richards, and Reginald Richards all of Monroe, LA; close friends, Johnny Jackson of Fayetteville, NC, Michael Cooper of Loganville, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
