Denenna R. Bass, better known as “Nina” was born December 17, 1963 in Chicago, IL, to Mattie Turner and Frank Seals. She departed this life on June 5, 2024.
Denenna R. Bass was a graduate of the class of 1982 from Wossman High School, where she was a lead power forward basketball star. She loved Wossman Wildcat Basketball, it was her favorite sport.
She also enjoyed singing gospel music, “I’m going up yonder” was her favorite song that she would often sing. She was also a choir director at New Saint John Baptist Church on Burg Jones Lane right across the street from her house. Later in life, she united with the Greater Free Gift Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Rodney McFarland, I. She would get her praise on at Greater Free Gift. She loved the Lord!!!
She was a very popular and funny person if you ever came across her. She loved the Lord and she loved to sing his praises.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mattie Turner and Frank Seals; grandmother, Sally Bass Dunn; daughter, Kim L. Bass.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Shemika S. Bass; son, LaDarrius S. Bass; five sisters, Sophia Jones of Chicago, IL, Andrea Jones of Chicago, IL, Leshel Crawford of Chicago, IL, Sharon Hunter of Monroe, LA, Vanessa Hill of Monroe, LA, Nuglenda Jacobs of Monroe, LA; three brothers, Roderick Turner(Katie) of Chicago, IL, Bennie R. Hunter of Monroe, LA, Elzie Hunter of Monroe, LA; one granddaughter, Z’myra A. Bass of Monroe, LA; one great-granddaughter, Journei Z. Anderson; one great-grandson, Kimari P. Bass of Monroe, LA; one close acquaintances, Tony Kim; and a host of other family and friends.
