Delores Miller Smith (Lois) was born in Columbia, Louisiana on January 1, 1958, to the late Serena and Clarence Miller, Sr. She was the seventh of eleven children. She was united in holy matrimony to Billy Alexander, Sr.
Delores loved and was well-loved by her family and friends. She was known far and wide for her hilarious sass and sharp wit. She loved the Lord, but she also liked to cuss a little. She enjoyed old school karaoke and talking smack during a good game of cards. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with those she loved: her friends and family.
Delores was baptized at an early age. She most recently served as a member of Augusta Missionary Baptist Church, under Pastor Kenneth Blackson where she served as a member of the hospitality ministry and wherever else she was needed.
On January 20, 2026, she departed this life to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Sr. and Serena Miller; six siblings, Tommy, Lucinda, Franceal, Lavelle, Clarence Jr. Miller, and Sadie Williams; mother-in-law, Lessie Cooks; and first husband, Harrison Smith.
Delores leaves multitudes to cherish her life, legacy, and memories. She will be forever remembered and loved by her husband, Billy Alexander, Sr.; her daughter, Yolanda Miller; granddaughter, Alexandria Miller; two great-grandchildren, Zakari and Zaniyah, all of Virginia Beach, Virginia; five bonus daughters, Billie Dixon (Andre), Tabatha Alexander, Crystal Alexander, Rosa Alexander, and LaBrittany Alexander; one bonus son, Billy Alexander, Jr., all of Winnsboro, Louisiana; ten siblings, Sheila Waddy of Alexandria, Louisiana, Linda Smith (Waymon) of Grayson, Louisiana, Parnell Miller, and Patricia Gray (Maurice) of Miami, Florida, Daryl Miller of Monroe, Louisiana, Earlene Eggins of Columbia, Louisiana, Ruby Eggins of Texas, Sandra Ward and Jackie Neal of Minden, Louisiana, and Yolanda Neal of Monroe, Louisiana; seven sisters-in-law, Curtis Jean Miller (Clarence Jr.), Lettie Brown, Assie Jackson (WL), Denesia Cooks, Rosetta Cooks, Felicia Hart (Jessie), and Sallie Harris (Rondall); five brothers-in-law, Charles Vaughn (Francis), Michael Cooks (Victoria), Charlie Cooks, Leslie Cooks (Kathy), and George Grant; nine bonus grandchildren; two bonus great-grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and last but not least, her Boo Boo and kitty companion, Jerry.
Lois will be missed beyond words, but her smile and laughter will live in our hearts forever. Until we meet again Sweet Baby.
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
II Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)
