Deacon Leroy McMillian Obituary

Deacon Leroy “Rock” McMillian was born on November 17, 1958, a loving husband, father, devoted brother, beloved uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on Monday, October 18, 2021, at the age of 62.

Leroy was a resident of Monroe, La. for twenty-five years, and a Native of New Orleans, La. and Atmore, Alabama. He attended Edgar P. Harney and Carter G. Woodson schools in New Orleans, Louisiana, Escambia County High School in Atmore, Alabama and Southern University at New Orleans.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Susie Rivers; his mother Mary Dean McMillian, his uncle George Haley, his brother Danny Lee McMillian, and stepson Patrick Lee James Decator.

He is survived by his faithful and loving wife Pamela Turner McMillian.

 “Rock” as he was affectionately known leaves to cherish his memories, five children; LeRoyce (Steven) Alexander, Leroy (Gerlana) McMillian, Tabitha (Ross) Washington, Danyelle (Brian) Brown, Javar (April) Bowman, step-daughter Toronda Griffin.  His Grandchildren; Jontel, Edward, Ry’lee, Davielle and Briant’e Bowman, Kalil Brown, Shanekia, Nikeisha, Jatavia, Waijana, Waishon, and Waikel McMillian, Stevie Alexander, Jasimeon, Janitra (Noel), Jaleah, JaRonda, and Kaitlyn. His nieces; Nikolle, Natosha Corley; His nephews; Juan Pierce, Ronald Corley; and his Godchild Kevon Gladney.

Leroy will continue to live in the hearts of his five siblings; his brothers; Randy and Troy McMillian of New Orleans, LA., sisters; JoAnn Pierce of Slidell, La., Wanda (Joseph) Soniat of Pearl River, La., and Sheila (Jarvis) Jacobs of New Orleans, La., brothers- in-law; James and Johnny Turner, sisters-in- law; Patricia T. Morris and Jessica S. Millikin, and best friends; Wayne White and Michael Williams. Leroy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Leroy instilled into his children the values of life and taught them to be responsible, honest, trustworthy adults. 

Leroy was a member of the Greater Free Gift Baptist Church where he embraced the responsibilities of a deacon.

Leroy was a very bright spirited individual who loved and enjoyed family, friends and life. As part of his leisure, he would be found spending time with his friends and associates enjoying his favorite past time playing dominoes and spade card games.
