A Time to Be Born
Deacon Clifford Powell was born March 21, 1962, to the
union of the late Willie Powell and Catherine Cooper in Monroe, Louisiana.
A Time to Live
Clifford began work at a young age at Delhi Compress. He later moved to Rayville, where he was the plant manager of Staplcotn for the remainder of his career. He loved his job and the people that worked with him. Clifford loved his family. He married Joe Ann Humes on December 18, 1980. They had many wonderful years together. He looked forward to any time that the family could come together. The highlight of his life was being a grandfather. He loved his
grandchildren and spoiled them all the time.
A Time to Serve Christ
Deacon Powell confessed Christ and joined Rocky Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend James Hudson, Jr. He served as a deacon under the leadership of Reverend Jerry L. Bailey and enjoyed participating in church activities. He always wanted to keep the church lawn nice and neat for service.
A Time to Die
The Master’s plan was fulfilled and Deacon Powell transitioned to his eternal home on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi, Louisiana.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 42 years, Joe Ann Powell; two daughters, Remona (Carlos) Posey of Ridgeland, MS, and Kimberly (TaMarcus) May of Delhi, LA; four grandchildren, A’Shonlyn, Aunna, Carson, and Carleigh; one godson, Corbin Jones; three brothers, Willie (Ella) Powell and Billy (Belinda) Powell, both of Delhi, LA, and Jerry (Darlene) Powell of Houston, TX; three sisters, Hazel Powell, Lorine (Frank) Jones, and Earlean (Leotis) Clay, all of Delhi, LA; sisters-in-law, Bessie (Richard) Goldman and Marilyn (Oscar) Hopkins, both of Delhi, LA, Linda (William) Carter of Warner Robins, GA, and Deborah Humes of Hinesville, GA; brothers-in-law, Willie Humes of Monroe, LA, and Joseph (LaShannda) Humes of Pioneer, LA; special family, Demetrius, Keisha, Brianna, and Brooklyn Day; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Catherine Powell; one brother, Tommy Lee Powell; and mother-in-law, Sarah Humes.
