Charles Stanley Lewings was born to Roosevelt and Dorothy Lewings, March 20, 1939 in Oakdale, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Allen High Class of 1957 and went on to serve in the military for over 20 years before retiring honorably in 1979. He went on to work for the Civil Service and retired honorably after another 20 years of service in 2002.
At 17 years of age, he confessed Christ and became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Oakdale, Louisiana.
During his life, he was a son, grand-son, big brother, soldier, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and god-father.
Although he was not perfect, he had a heart larger than all outside. He took care of those in his care, even though it came with fussing and instructions. He had an uncanny ability to make you mad and laugh at the same time. He enjoyed flea-market shopping and never saw one that he didn't like.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Dorothy Lewings; his first wife, Ruthie M. Lewings; his siblings, Annis M. Lewings; his mother and father-in-law, Timothy and Viney Toussaint; and one grandchild, Brandon Johnson.
He leaves behind: the mothers of his children, Ms. Gloria Sadler and Ms. Lula Robinson; his children, Jeffery W. Lewings, Corey J. Lewings, and Rosalyn Michelle Lewings; his siblings, Annie Lewings-Curry, Bruce (Pat) M. Lewings, James Elzy; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jones, Mary Alice Johnson, Mary Toussaint, Joyce Tademy, Glorice Gillie, and Shirley Remo; brothers-in-law, Roosevelt Toussaint and Willie Marvin Toussaint; special friend, Rose Ward; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one god-daughter, Meridian Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.
