Bolton Tobias, Jr., "BJ" as he was so lovingly called by those who knew him, was born November 23, 1940 to the late Bolton Tobias, Sr. and the late Emma Wells-Tobias in Liberty, Mississippi.
He joined the Cedar Grove Methodist Church at an early age and started working as a young teen to support his younger siblings after the passing of his mother. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing high school football and graduated from the Liberty Rosenwall High School in Liberty, Mississippi.
He moved to New Orleans, Louisiana not long after graduating from high school. He met and united with Ella Mae Jones, and six children were born to this union. He later relocated to Monroe, Louisiana, where he met his lifetime partner and wife, Stephanie Lawrence-Tobias. To this union, five children were born.
"BJ" was a highly skilled butcher and worked many years at West Packing in West Monroe, Louisiana. He also spent a number of years working for McCain Farms, Inc of Calhoun, Louisiana; as well as CarKem Environmental Company. After many years of working, he retired and spent some time enjoying fishing which was one of his loved hobbies. He continued to spend time with his family and loved ones until his health failed.
"BJ" leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Stephanie Lawrence Tobias; 13 children, Danny Tobias, David Tobias, Bolton Tobias III, Keith Tobias, Mark Tobias, Jamard Tobias; Valerie Jones, Paul Williams, Crystal Lawrence, Nicholas Lawrence, Bonet Tobias, Alexis Tobias, and Johntavious Tobias; two sisters, Betty (Sally) Tobias and Molly Tobias-Veals; 29 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three siblings, Johnny Tobias, Mable Jean Tobias-Veals, and Maury Carroll Tobias; and one grandchild.
"BJ" was loved greatly and made a lasting impression on all who knew him and will be missed tremendously.
