Sister Betty Ruth Sims-Garr was born December 26, 1944, to the late Earnest Hannon and Tiney Brown in Dubach, Louisiana.
On the early morning of June 24, 2025, Betty was rushed to Union General Hospital in Farmerville, Louisiana where she transitioned to her Eternal place of Glory in her Heavenly Father’s house.
Betty began her Christian journey at Millard Hill Baptist Church in Farmerville, Louisiana.
Betty was happily married for 37 years to Grady Sims, who preceded her in death. Betty leaves to cherish her memory, their four children: one son, Patrick Sims (Laura); three daughters, Lisa Sims), Sheila Lewis (Edward), and Amanda Pride (Gary).
For the past 11 years, she has been happily married to her Junior High School sweetheart, Albert Garr. In addition to her parents and previous husband, other family members who preceded her include: her grandson, Corean Sims, and two sisters, Bobbie Williams and Shirley Hannon.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory: one brother, Billy Hannon; seven sisters, Bettye Townsend Stover, Nannette Hannon, Barbara Richards (William), Mattie Giles (Carlos), Katie Winzer (Frank), Ernestine Lyons; five grandchildren, Latoya Coates (Jeremy), Ashley Debrow, Brandy McFarland (Quintin), and Brittany Lewis; four great-grandchildren, Tatiana and Trinity Coates, Zyon and Aubri McFarland, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
