Barbara Jean Wade Bailey was born on October 5, 1935, to the late Newt Wade and Beatrice Wade in Monroe, Louisiana. She went home to be with our heavenly father on November 6, 2022, after a lengthy illness, at Ochsner LSU Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana.
Barbara was a 1954 graduate of Monroe Colored High School. She worked for many years; her occupation having been private sitting. She was united in holy matrimony with Eddie Bailey, Sr. To this union, eight children were born, two of whom preceded their mother in death.
She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Beatrice and Newt Wade; husband, Eddie Bailey; sisters, Naomi Queen, Mable Bluford, and Dorothy Coleman; nieces, JoAnn Rogers, Jessie Coleman, and Patricia Givens; nephew, Floyd Bluford; and a beloved grandson, DeVante Bailey.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories: her precious children, Vanessa Bailey, Debra Bailey Washington (DeMark) of Monroe, LA, Gwendolyn Bailey Spearman (Kenneth) of California, Freddie Bailey (Timothy Rogers), Leslie Bailey (Michael Cole) of Minnesota, and Roderick Bailey (Rebecca) of Washington; twenty grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mrs. Barbara loved to listen to music with family and friends. She had a passion for shopping.
