Born on September 18, 1935, in the quiet town of Crowville, Louisiana, your grandmother came into the world as a blessing to Edna Beckwith. From the beginning, she carried a spirit of warmth, resilience, and devotion that would shape the lives of everyone around her.

She was the proud mother of two sons, Charles and Chad Martin, and through them, her legacy grew. Her heart expanded with the arrival of her grandchildren, including Shaniece, Ja’Cola, and Jacob Martin, the beloved children of Chad. But her love didn’t stop there—she had numerous grandchildren, each one a cherished thread in the tapestry of her life.

Her legacy continued to blossom with the arrival of five loving great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and laughter. She adored them deeply, and they will carry her spirit forward for generations to come.

Grandma found joy in the simple, soulful pleasures: fishing by the water’s edge, reading stories that stirred her imagination, and singing to her God with a voice full of faith and gratitude. Her songs were more than melodies—they were prayers, praises, and reflections of a life deeply rooted in belief.

She passed peacefully on August 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and serenity. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in every memory, every story, and every song sung in her honor.

Her favorite scripture, St. John 3:16, was a guiding light in her life:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

This verse was not just a quote it was her truth, her comfort, and her promise.
