Annesha McKennery, otherwise known as “Rica” went home to Jesus on February 23, 2022.

Rica was born to Larry and Earline McKennery on August 8, 1972 in Pineville, Louisiana. As a child, she excelled in school and participated in many extracurricular events, her favorite being a flag girl for Block High School in Jonesville, LA where she graduated in 1990. She went on from there to continue her studies at Grambling State University (Grambling, Louisiana). Later, Rica joined the United States Air Force (from January 1993 – April 1996) and received an honorable discharge. Rica and her former husband, Dale Mason were married for 26 years and went on to have two beautiful children, daughter DeVan Alexus-Nicole, and her son, Devin Dionel and stepson, Seandale.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, throughout her entire life, Rica held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She loved her affiliation with women’s ministry and the Lord used Rica in a powerful way to touch the lives of every person she encountered. It has been said, “If Rica considered you her friend, you were friends forever.”

Rica exuded the light and love of Christ with her gentle discerning spirit and contagious love for the Lord, she was involved in multiple ministries and was sought after to speak at events. Her humble and gentle spirit resulted in many either coming to Christ or maturing in Him. She made a difference in the lives of all who knew her.

Rica is not only survived by her parents, Larry and Earline McKennery, but also by her loving sisters, Natasha and Kayshon,her children as mentioned above and her niece, Jada.

In honoring Rica, let’s not only remember her for her love for the Lord, but try to live in accordance with one of her beloved scriptures Philippians 4:4-8:

“Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice. Let your gentleness be evident to all. Do not be anxious about anything, but by every situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your request to God. And the peace of God that transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy –think on such things.”
