Alonzo Williams was born on March 30, 1949, to the late Charlie Williams, Sr. and Christine Williams. He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour at an early age.
Alonzo was loved by many. His overall joy in life came with being with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and especially with his extended “McDowell Family.”
Alonzo departed this life on April 16, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Sr. and Christine Williams; mother and father-in-law; Elza and Estella McDowell; son, Byron “Skeete” Williams; grandson, Promise Loyd; Sisters, Charlene Steele and Lennie McDaniel; brothers; Clyde Williams, Sr., Charlie Williams, Sr., Troy Williams, Sr., Roy Williams, Sr., and Dan Williams, Sr.; and a special friend, Deloris Singelton Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Melvina La Faye McDowell-Williams; daughters, Veronica McDowell (Samuel), KeaWanda Williams, Janice Johnson (Dole Jr.), bonus daughter, Courtney McDowell-Laniear (Zach); and Paw Paw’s firstborn grandbaby who he reared as his own, Teaire Williams-Johnson (Courtney); sons, Alonzo “Pete” Williams, Sr. (Joyce), Shermann Henderson (Felicia), Kenneth Hawthrone, and Norman Williams; sisters, Mattie McDowell and Lillie Griffin; brothers, Comrad Williams, Rufus Williams (Betty), Gregory Williams (Ruby), and Van Williams; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
