Alma Lee Collins-Longino Obituary

On October 8, 2020, the world lost an amazing woman, but heaven gained the most beautiful soul. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Alma Lee Collins-Longino. Alma was 74 years old at the time of her passing. Alma Lee Collins-Longino was born May 1, 1946 in Winnsboro, Louisiana in Franklin Parrish at home to the late Roosevelt Ignant and Liddie Susie McGraw-Poe but she was raised and recognized by her loving father Jessie Collins Sr. who she loved dearly.

Alma accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 11 years old at St. Matthews Baptist Church under the late Reverend Watkins. Alma was a member of St. Luke’s Church under Pastor Michael Weeks; she loved her frequent visits from her St. Luke’s family.

On February 17, 1984, Alma was united in holy matrimony to the great Robert Cherry Longino of Prentiss, Mississippi, who preceded her in death with whom she shared a deep love that filled her heart, mind and soul.

Alma leaves behind five loving children to cherish her memory, Corey Collins (New Orleans, Louisiana), Daron Collins (Jacksonville, Florida), Sharon Collins-Johnson (New Orleans, Louisiana), Shawn Collins (New Orleans, Louisiana), and Shannon Collins (New Orleans, Louisiana). She also leaves behind her loving sister, Lula Mae Harris of Monroe, Louisiana and four brothers; Walter McGraw Sr., Jerry McGraw Sr., of Mangham, Louisiana, the late Jessie Collins Jr. and the late Anthony McGraw who preceded her in death.

Alma’s greatest achievement was her unwavering love and support for her 26 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She would give anything she had to keep a smiles on our faces. Alma developed a long, trust filled, and loving relationship with Wayne Johnson who is the spouse of daughter Sharon and the father of 4 of her beloved grandchildren.

It would be remiss to say that Alma lost her battle because she never gave up the fight. No matter how sick she was, she was determined to prevail. When anyone else would have broken, Alma stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Alma. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. No matter what she was dealing with medically, she would always say; “I am blessed and highly favored!”
