Albert Jackson Obituary

ALBERT JAMES JACKSON

On May 20, 1929 God blessed Alex Jackson and Florence Pleasant with a bountiful blessing in that of a baby boy named Albert James Jackson. He is affectionately known to family and friends as “AJ”, Jay or Jack. To the Kids as Dad or Pops. To the Grand Kids , Great Grands and Great Great Grands as Poppa, Paw Paw or Pop Pop. Albert wasn’t afforded the luxury of a formal education. Having completed only the 6th grade in school, like many in his day working the fields was a priority. His learning like others was provided by the elders center around the church. Accepting Christ at an early age, he was blessed with an angelic voice where he trumpeted the sounds of “The Most High” in many church halls and event centers around the country, even an opportunity for President Obama inauguration.  God knew he would use this gift for the building of his kingdom and glory. Being a man of great humility, patience, compassion and kindness, he set sail to faithfully discharge his duties as a steward of Christ. Throughout his life he understood the value of self worth. Tired of being cheated as a wage earner, he started out on his own as an independent contractor in the business of cement finishing. He skillfully performed this craft to provide for his family, acquire homes and give opportunities to his children that he didn’t have. Through his focus and faith he was blessed to participate and lead in numerous construction projects and developments on a national and local scale.  Having this work ethic allowed him to be the best provider he could ever be.

Bro. Jackson accepted Christ at an early age where he joined Pleasant Star Baptist Church of Winnsboro La. In the early sixties he joined Zion Spring Missionary Baptist Church under leadership of the late great Rev. E. J.  where he served as chairman of the deacon board for 50 years. He also served as president of the choir for many years. He served faithfully for over 55years until the will of God called him home.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents Alex Jackson and Florence Pleasant. His wife Hattie Bell Hooker Jackson, His brother Eddie Jackson, His sons Lonnie Roy Blount, James Edward Jackson, Shelby Lynn Jackson. His daughters Alma Dean Johnson, Linda Lou Johnson.  He is survived by his children: Albert J Jackson Jr. of Palo Alto California , Gloria Jackson-Omigie of New Orleans Lousiana, Flossie Ignont of The Colony Texas, Robert Earl Jackson of Cleveland Ohio, Dorothy Bankston of Monroe Louisiana, Larry Jackson of Waldorf Maryland, Michael Jackson of Monroe La.
