Brother Willie “Tuff” Strawder, Jr., 65, of Monroe, Louisiana went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Willie was born in Monroe, Louisiana to the union of Willie and Essie (Mickle) Strawder. He received his nickname, Tuff, at an early age. He left walking to his grandmother’s house as a toddler one day and from that day on, he was known as “Tuff”.
Tuff worked in the Water Department of the City of Monroe for 30 years before he retired. During his employment, he was promoted to Supervisor and worked diligently with his crew daily. Any who knew him, would tell that he had great work ethics and respected those who worked with him.
Tuff was loved by all. He especially loved children and spoiled all of them that was fortunate enough to be in his presence. His smile was contagious, and his hugs were infectious. He always had a way to brighten up your day.
Tuff leaves to cherish: his life-long partner, Helen Williams, four children, Lateefaha Winfield of Monroe, LA; Veronica Kendall of Atlanta, GA; Ashley Williams and Robert Williams of Monroe, LA; his mother, Essie Strawder of Monroe, LA; four siblings, Robert (Subrina) Mickle of Decatur, IL; Helen Strawder Dunn, Eleanor (Charles) Gaines, and James (Carol) Strawder, all of Monroe, LA; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father: Willie Strawder and one brother, Fred Badger, Jr.
