Daddy’s Life Story

Our Daddy, Thomas J. Henry a.k.a TJ departed this life on May 6, 2019 after a lengthy illness.  Many of the immediate family members had a chance to visit with Daddy before his death at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.

Daddy was the eldest of 13 children of Sam Henry and Myrthis Latchinson born in Sicily Island, Louisiana.  He is survived by Flemon, Lucille, Rozena, Doretha, Betsy, Harry, Gloria, Mary, Earl, and Leroy.

Daddy met the love of his life and forever partner and wife, my Mother, Nancy B. Henry (Jordan), in Sicily Island, Louisiana in the 1950s.  They were married in January 1960 and were married more than 59 years at his death.  They have 8 children, Bobby, Thomas, Michael, Tyrone, Ann, Lahoma, Eda, and Jermaine.  They have more than 25 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

They migrated from Sicily Island, to Dallas and ultimately settled in Oakland, California where they raised their 8 children and numerous grandchildren.  In 2000 they retired to Monroe, Louisiana where they have lived since.

Daddy lived a selfless life and was always welcoming to all persons.  He has provided assistance and support to numerous family members and friends and was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
