A Life of Legacy

Brother Therone Anotly Bess was born on November 1, 1958 to the late Alex Wheatley and Lueretter Bess in Monroe, Louisiana. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at his home.

He was baptized at an early age at New Saint John Baptist church under the leadership of Reverend Leo Reed. He later moved his membership to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend William E. Armstrong, where he remained a faithful member until death.

Brother Bess was a graduate of Richwood High School Class of 1976. After high school, he joined the United States Army. He worked for Monroe Transit where he drove buses and worked for Georgia Pacific.

He was proceeded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Therone met and married Fennie Ricks Bess, the love of his life, on October 3, 1981. Therone and Fennie were married for 38 years and shared a life of commitment to each other. Everything that they had in life was accomplished together. To this union, one son was born, Arlando Bess.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 38 years, Fennie Bess; his mother, Lueretter James (Johnnie); five sons, Arlando Bess, Lamario Ricks, Christopher Major, Anthony Lewis, and Damon Tony; two daughters, Terri Major and Kristen Reed; twenty-four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister, Shelia Cooper; two brothers, Brent Wheatley and Brian Wheatley; two uncles and two aunts of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two god-daughters, Ilandia Millage and Felicia Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
