Katie Lee Honeycutt Cox was born in Ruston, LA, on October 1, 1938, to the late Augusta Honeycutt and Katherine Woods Honeycutt. She accepted Christ at an early age at Wood Chapel, New Salem, and Trenton. Katie became a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church under Pastor Michael Thompson, Sr.
Mother Katie retired as a Nurse’s Aid at Riverside Nursing Home many years ago. She worked at Boley Elementary, West Monroe Convention Center, and Highland Elementary as a custodial worker. She worked at the American Legion Hall as a security guard and did other activities. Mother Katie was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 521, in Monroe and later became a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in West Monroe. She was a member of the West Ouachita Senior Citizen Center.
Mother Katie departed this life on May 16, 2019. She was preceded in death by her mother: Katherine, father: Augusta, her husband: Johnson Z. Cox, sister: Katherine Jo, and three children: Bobby, Brenda, and Bruce. She leaves to cherish, three sisters: Mozell Shorts, Anna and Bobbie Watkins; two brothers: J.B. and Willie Watkins; 16 children: Edward Honeycutt (Patricia), Albert Johnson, Sandra Jackson (Ervin), Frankie Johnson (Amanda), Katherine Newton (Michael/deceased), Anthony Johnson (Laquita), Carolyn Honeycutt (James), Johnny Warren (Emma), William (Julie) Johnson, Steve, Terry (Audrey), Effie (Thomas), Marilyn (Lawrence), James (Brenda) and Letha; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one godson, aunts, and uncles. Mother Katie also raised a host of children whom she took in as her own.
Mother Katie loved fishing and spending quality time with family and friends. She was the Queen of Dominos and Spades. She was loved by many and lived her life to the fullest.
