Jimmy Roger Murphy was born March 12, 1959 to Jimmy and Tessie Murphy in Monroe, Louisiana. He found Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Reverend D.L. McCall. He later joined Tried Stone Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Auburn Robinson.
Jimmy was employed by the City of Monroe for several years.
Jimmy was truly a family-oriented person. He was loved and instrumental in the lives of so many people.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Tessie Murphy; five brothers, George Bell, Willie Murphy, Michael Murphy, Eugene Murphy, Jimmy Ray; and two sisters, Frankie Logwood and Geraldine Turner.
Jimmy “Roger” Murphy leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Jacqueline Murphy; eight sons, Al Dewayne Glover, DeQuentin Murphy, De’Angelo Murphy, Jimmy Murphy, Jr., Korderis Murphy, McAllista Cotton, Adonis Cotton, Brodderick Murphy; two stepsons, Brandon Henderson (Jeanette) and Raphael Henderson; four daughters, Adrian Murphy, LaTasha Cotton, LaTisha Minor, and Kamala Jones; one nephew who’s just like a son, Torrence Johnson (Pamela); one brother, Fred Harris (Jennifer); three sisters, Doris Wadley (Johnny), Johnnie Mae Cherry, and Cheryl Tillman (Carl); twenty-five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a loving God-daughter Gemia Henderson, and a host of niece, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
